It so sad.  A company we once looked up to as a model upon which all corporations should be fashioned after.  In this business, we, as engineers, who have intimate contact with their products on a daily basis, always recommended SONY broadcast gear.  Their parts and support for products was unparalleled in this industry.  Now?  Well, for starters, their Services Plus website has been down for months.  Ordering parts on the phone is also close to impossible.  Parts showing up as “in stock” aren’t,  Parts ordered “overnight” don’t arrive for 8 or 9 days.  Parts that are common periodic replacement items (scanners), are on back order.  Repair of broadcast equipment, if I have to remind you, is extremely time critical.  To say this is unacceptable is akin to saying Casey Anthony is a bad mother.  By the way, this has absolutely nothing to do with the earthquake and tsunami.  I’m talking about SONY USA, with multiple parts warehouses stateside.  Is this the end as we know it?

We are currently in the process of purchasing more gear than ever before.  This means CASH IN YOUR POCKET!  If you’re liquidating due to financial hardship, upgrading to full HD/3D and have no use for your SD gear, or just want to clear out unused junk, call us.  It’s much better than calling an e-waste recycler, because we pay you, not the other way around…

We’re looking for schools, social programs or other potential markets for used Avids, and FCP’s.  We have lots of peripherals in stock as well.  Just give a call, we’ll work with your budget, whatever it may be.

We’d love to get your responses on toners.  Over the years, we’ve had several.  None are ideal, that is, for all cable types.  Any recommendations are welcome!

How much does one have to spend to purchase a PCI or PCI-E graphics card that outputs a composite, component or Y/C signal that is useable?  I spent about $80.00, and got a monochrome output to all but the lowest end monitors.  Matter of fact, the only time chroma kicked in was when this thing was input to a TV set’s aux input.  After looking at the cards’ output on a waveform monitor, I could see why!  The burst was squashed into a band of noise!  These are truly low end consumer garbage, existing only for “gamers”.   If someone knows of a good one that can interface with prosumer or even pro video gear, let me know.  Scan converters?  Don’t get me started…..

Let it be known, that frequent cleaning of your video heads can extend their useable lifespan.  We’re happy to instruct you on this procedure at no cost, just give a call!
