It so sad. A company we once looked up to as a model upon which all corporations should be fashioned after. In this business, we, as engineers, who have intimate contact with their products on a daily basis, always recommended SONY broadcast gear. Their parts and support for products was unparalleled in this industry. Now? Well, for starters, their Services Plus website has been down for months. Ordering parts on the phone is also close to impossible. Parts showing up as “in stock” aren’t, Parts ordered “overnight” don’t arrive for 8 or 9 days. Parts that are common periodic replacement items (scanners), are on back order. Repair of broadcast equipment, if I have to remind you, is extremely time critical. To say this is unacceptable is akin to saying Casey Anthony is a bad mother. By the way, this has absolutely nothing to do with the earthquake and tsunami. I’m talking about SONY USA, with multiple parts warehouses stateside. Is this the end as we know it?
